Things are difficult. How could it be any different? Suffering and death are things to be endured, not embraced. Instead of expounding on the specifics of what exactly we are facing at the moment, I will just share some verses from the Psalms that give voice to some of the things we are feeling. I find it comforting to know that at least the writers of the Bible were familiar with pain and suffering – and all the emotions that come with them. More than that, Jesus himself knows pain and suffering.

Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger
or discipline me in your wrath.
Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint;
heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony.
My soul is in deep anguish.
How long, Lord, how long?

 Psalm 6:1-3, NIV

14 My life is poured out like water,
and all my bones are out of joint.
My heart is like wax,
melting within me.
15 My strength has dried up like sunbaked clay.
My tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth.
You have laid me in the dust and left me for dead.

Psalm 22:14-15, New Living Translation

My heart is breaking
as I remember how it used to be:
I walked among the crowds of worshipers,
leading a great procession to the house of God,
singing for joy and giving thanks
amid the sound of a great celebration!

 Why am I discouraged?
Why is my heart so sad?
I will put my hope in God!
I will praise him again—
my Savior and my God!

Now I am deeply discouraged,
but I will remember you-

Psalm 42:4-5, Easy to Read Version

I say to God my Rock,
“Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I go about mourning,
oppressed by the enemy?”
10 My bones suffer mortal agony
as my foes taunt me,
saying to me all day long,
“Where is your God?”

11 Why, my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.

Psalm 42:9-11, NIV

All the scriptures, all the kind words, all the wisdom the world has to offer can’t make a time such as this feel any less painful. Yes. We have hope in Jesus Christ. Thank you Lord. Yes, we know that we are bound for glory and oh what a celebration that will be, and yes God sends His comforter to wrap His arms around us and keep all the pieces in place, but to endure with such beauty and praise is…………unimaginable. And yet we witness it every time you speak. Whoever gives God glory He says He will come and meet them there and bless them. We are giving you glory Lord. Meet Peter and this family with Your beauty, Your love, Your undying mercy, and Your healing hand. in Jesus’s name I pray. Thank you Lord. Amen

I selfishly never want to know what your family and especially Peter are enduring but know I’m lifting you all up in prayer many times daily. May you all feel God’s arms around you in comfort.

I recently walked around Calvin Crest and did the usual human thing when your heart is heavy. I’d like to share my “reasoning” with God. The drought that we have had has left many trees susceptible to a beetle that kills the trees, so when you look around at the beauty, you see live and dead trees randomly scattered amongst each other. I saw a Peter tree and…….had this conversation……with God. “Yes Lord, those of us that are Christians know that, what awaits us in Heaven is……beyond words. Once a loved one reaches their forever home, we could never wish them back……away from the glory of our Father. And they probably would never want to either. But Lord…..what this world needs is testimonies…….to the dead in spirit, the lost, the broken, the uncertain, undecided, the rejected and the hopeless. What this world needs is to see Your hand of healing. What this world needs is healing Lord. They NEED to see You move in a mighty mighty way. They need to see YOUR glory, YOUR love, YOUR mercy, YOUR hope. They need to see You through the eyes of compassion, love and great unimaginable joy. And Lord, this family will do that. Yes, they will give you the honor and glory and praise in all ways, always, and Christians will celebrate Your promise……and the sacrifice you made to give us our Heavenly home, but……….WOW!!! They will be such an extraordinary testimony, 6 lives, roaming around your world, delivering a message of extraordinary healing, love, mercy, and faith! You know them Lord. The Zeal with which they would love your people, with the proof and testimony of how you love…….and heal, through trust and faith. Christians already know Your glory Lord. It’s Your people that are still looking that need to see *You……..through the extraordinary eyes of joy. They need to see…….and be drawn to that joy…….to ask questions……..and to receive Your story, Your hope, and Your heart. Lord, they need to see you heal. Let it be through Peter Lord, and He WILL touch the dead in spirit all around him soith Your love. I know that. In Jesus’s name I pray…..and thank You….Amen.”. Sorry for the length, but, thank you for listening. Amen amen amen
